Last week, we looked at Caesar Augustus and the Christmas story from the book of Luke. This week, we look at Herod and the Christmas story from the book of Matthew. And at Starbucks cups and used car dealerships. I hope you enjoy it :)
Discussion Questions coming soon! ![]()
This past week, my Sunday School class went deeply through the background to Luke's version of the Christmas Story. We looked in-depth at what it meant that the Christmas story takes place at the time of Caesar Augustus, and at just how subversive and dangerous this whole story actually is. I've attached the audio and handout from that class below. It's kind of long, but hopefully helpful. :) ![]()
This week, we're talking through some of the backgrounds to the advent story. When the story begins, "a decree went out from Caesar Augustus," that carried some serious overtones to those who would have read this story.
Take some time to watch the video, then work through the questions below. ![]()
This week our question is simple: What is the Exodus journey that God is calling us on? Watch the video, and take time as a group answering that simple question.
