Why is it that we are constantly trying to be someone else?
This week, we're looking at Jacob's journey, with a little help from Peter and John. It turns out that the Bible is full of real stories, about real people, dealing with the very real issue of what it means to be "comfortable in their own skin." Discussion guide below. ![]()
Abraham had a sense of God's bigger plan right up to the end of his life. Sadly, that's not always true for us. What would it look like for you and I to live the kind of lives that lead to an ever- expanding sense of God's work in this world?

One of the ways we're taught to read the scriptures, from a very early age, is to look to the stories and heroes of the Bible as models for our own lives. The trouble with that way of reading is this: many of the heroes of the faith didn't exactly do things perfectly. As a matter of fact, a lot of them were a mess! Abraham was no different. He was very human, and yet God called him nonetheless.
This week, we're looking at the story of Abraham. Our goal: to see through Abraham's story and into the heart of our faithful God. Read Genesis 11:27-12:16 before you hit "play." Study guide below. ![]()
This week, Pastor Glen and I discuss the craziness of our political world and what the book of Genesis--specifically Babel and Abraham--might have to say about it. Discussion questions below.

This week, we're looking at a much later part of the Bible and how it connects with Genesis 3-11. If you can, takes some time to read Acts 2:1-11 before you dive in.

This week, we're looking at Genesis 3. No matter how you slice it, Genesis 3 is a hard chapter- it forces us to wrestle with some of the most fundamental issues we face as humans. While there are glimmers of hope, one of the things we have to do if we want to be faithful to the story is to see ourselves in Adam and Eve.
If you can, take the time to read through Genesis 3 before hitting play on the video. Discussion sheet for community groups is available below. ![]()
In this first week of a brand new series, fellow Hebrew nerd Dane Burg and I look at the ancient concept of "Shalom." One of the deep lessons of Genesis 1-2 is that we were made to function in this world in a certain way... a beautiful way. Not only that, but through Jesus God invites us to "return" and experience shalom in our lives even today.
As always, find a discussion guide for you and your community groups below. Shalom! ![]()
