Little words & phrases in the Bible can have big meaning. What is Luke trying to say when he talks about the story taking place "In the days of Herod the King", or, "In those days, Ceasar Augustus issued a decree?" And just how radical are Mary's words in the Magnificat?
If you can, read aloud in your group Luke 1:46-56 before watching the video below. A discussion sheet for your group is attached below. Merry Christmas! ![]()

This week is the first week of our "Sent" series here at FBC. As we launch headlong into the heart of Christmas season, my prayer is that we can begin with the simple truth that was revealed on that beautiful, scandalous night... that God loves us.
He loves us so much that He did the unthinkable, the overwhelming, the almost ridiculous. He did the only thing he could do, really, to show us just how much. Discussion/Reflection questions: 1. Is Christmas typically a time where you reflect on God's passionate love for you? 2. If not, what are the distractions? 3. Are there specific ways, over the next few weeks, can you "simplify" the season and focus in on what matters? 4. Read Philippians 2:5-11, and spend some time reflecting and praying. Center your prayers around this question: Just how far did God go to say, "I love you?" |
